Lester Burkey, 92, of Cheyenne passed away July 30, 2018 in Cheyenne.

He was born August 7, 1925 on a farm near Merino, Colorado; where he attended school. He served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the Battleship HS South Dakota.

He attended the University of Northern Colorado, receiving his BA and MA degrees. He then taught school in Cheyenne for 35 years, retiring as Elementary Principal of Baggs Elementary School in 1985.

Mr. Burkey is survived by his wife, Linda of Cheyenne; daughter, Lucinda McCaffrey of Cheyenne and son, Larry and his wife Adair of Cheyenne.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Julie Burkey, his parents two sisters and three brothers.

Graveside services have been held in Beth El Cemetery. Services are under the care of Schrader, Aragon Jacoby Funeral Home.
