Obituary for Joe Miller

Joe Miller, 82, of Cheyenne passed away October 8, 2018 at Davis Hospice Center.

He was born May 29, 1936 in Pine Bluffs, to Harry and Dolores Miller. He was raised on a family farm near Albin, WY and grew to love the farming lifestyle and community. Joe, his mother, and older brother, Eugene (Gene) Miller continued to operate the farm for a few years following the unexpected death of his father on April 7, 1947.

He graduated from Golden Prairie High School and served part-time in the Wyoming air National Guard for eight years as an aircraft mechanic. He married the love of his life, Arnett Kay Hutchens on June 6, 1958 and the had three children, Shane, Treva and Robin. They made their home in Cheyenne and were active members of Grace Church of the Nazarene and later Cheyenne Hills Church.

He worked for Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power from 1954 to 1996 as an appliance repairman and lineman. He volunteered as a Cub Scout leader, as well as participating in various church programs and activities. He was a dedicated family man who supported his children in their various activities and pursuits. He was a quiet man who strived to complete every task he undertook to the best of his ability.

The family farm continued to be an important part of his life and he undertook a major renovation of the buildings and property. It became a second home for him, Arnett, and the rest of the family.

He is survived by his wife, Arnett Miller of Cheyenne; children, Shane (Valerie) Miller of Walla Walla, WA, Treva (Wayne) Garlington of Ridgefield, WA and Robin (Tim) Krier of The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren, Caleb and Cory Miller, Lynsey Bryant and Alyssa Krier, Brandon and Kip Garlington; great-grandchildren, Carson, Claire, Norah and Sawyer Garlington, Pryce Garlington and Ava Bryant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Dolores; brother, Gene and a granddaughter, Sara Ashley Krier.

Memory Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home with a reception to follow in the Schrader Reception Center.
