Obituary for Bruce David Twine

Bruce David Twine
Bruce David Twine, 73, passed away on September 28, 2015, after a 13 year battle with cancer. The courage displayed during his fight was a reminder of the strength and dignity shown throughout his entire life.

Bruce was born on May 25, 1942, and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He died in peace in his adopted hometown of Cheyenne surrounded by family.

Bruce was a distinguished military officer, dedicated family man and generous friend. His quick wit always drew people in, bringing laughter to even the most difficult situations.

Bruce graduated from Kenyon College, where he played football, lacrosse and baseball, and earned an MBA from the University of Oklahoma. He was first stationed in Cheyenne as a young lieutenant in the Air Force, meeting his future wife, Diane Murray, at that time. After serving in the Vietnam War, he traveled the country and world for his duties, and later returned to Cheyenne, retiring as a colonel.

Although he cherished his roots in New York, he loved the wide open spaces and blue skies of Cheyenne, and quickly embraced his extended family of Murrays, Dinneens, Lynchs, Roedels and Popps.

You could always find Bruce reading a new book, and he enjoyed all genre of music, art and theater. He was an avid sports fan, following teams scattered across the country. He loved fishing, skiing and being outdoors. Most of all, he loved entertaining family and friends with Diane.

Bruce was a founding member and enthusiastic supporter of Mia Maria, the Cheyenne Chapter of the Organization of the Sons of Italy in America, part of a large group of people who contribute time, food and money to help local charities. He and brother-in-law, William “Murf” Murray, were a formidable Bocce team, a favorite pastime of the group. Bruce also dedicated his time and service to his church, Holy Trinity.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Diane of 48 years; daughter, Leah Lindblom and her children, Keagan and Erik, of Arvada, CO; daughter, Kyler Smart, son-in-law, Mike, and their children, Ethan and Sydney, of Arlington, VA; brother, Jeff Twine of New York, NY; brother, Kevin Twine of Brunswick, ME; and sister, Michal Twine of Portsmouth, NH.

A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Thomas Cronkleton, Jr. as celebrant. An interment service will follow at Olivet Cemetery. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Davis Hospice Center, Cheyenne, WY (307-633-7016); or, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.LLS.org).
