Joan A. Hernandez, 55, of Cheyenne passed away on November 14, 2016 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born February 17, 1961 in Cheyenne to Joe and Gloria (Garcia) Hernandez. She married Ray Lewis on August 2, 1986 in Cheyenne. She had worked at JC Penny’s for 25 years and in the garden center at Walmart for 10 years. She had an unwavering deep faith in God and a very strong devotion to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Lewis of Cheyenne; daughter and the love of her life, Angela (Nick) Vaughn of Cheyenne; father, Joe Hernandez of Cheyenne; siblings, Monica (Pete) Garcia of Colorado Springs, CO, Bob Hernandez, Gary Hernandez, Joey (Tammy) Hernandez, Gerald Hernandez, Patrick Hernandez, Liz (Rodger Harder) Hernandez and Derrick Hernandez all of Cheyenne; nieces and nephews, Danielle, Anna, Sandra, Gregary, Brianna, Justine, Jazmine, Jade, Krystina, Jemini, several great-nieces and nephews; father and mother in law, Bill and Robbie Lewis of Cheyenne; sisters-in-law Karen (Jeff) Callahan of Cheyenne, Lynne (Joe) Dolwick of Cheyenne and Carol (Steve) Hornsby of Lebanon, OH.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Hernandez and a brother, David Hernandez.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or St. Joseph’s Children’s Home in Torrington.

A Vigil for the Deceased will by Friday 6:00 p.m. in the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A Funeral Liturgy will be Saturday 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with interment to follow in Olivet Cemetery.
