Obituary for Ann Blane

Ann Blane
Ann Blane, 88, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2017 at the Bridge Assisted Living Home in Longmont, CO. She was surrounded with family and the loving care from the Bridge staff and Suncrest Hospice Care.

She was born January 1, 1929 in Maybole, Scotland to George and Agnes (Murray) Wales. She met Alexander Blane, her husband of 63 years, at a dance in their hometown of Kilmarnock, Scotland. He was serving in the Royal Air Force at the time, and they married in June of 1949. In July 1951, they left Scotland and settled in New York; they became American citizens in November 1956 and raised their family in Levittown, NY. In 1977, they moved to Cheyenne and she was in sales at the Hitching Post Inn gift shop for over 21 years. After retirement, Ann and Alex exercised frequently and could be seen walking around the lake at Frontier Park in the summer or at the mall in the winter. Ann and Alex relocated to Del Ray Beach, Florida after retirement and resumed their hand-in-hand walks on the beaches of Del Ray.

During her 63 years of marriage, she and Alex were inseparable. She loved music and singing, ballroom dancing, reading, solving Sudoku puzzles and crocheting. She was adventurous and loved to travel to fun destinations, take cruises for milestone events, and to travel to spend time with her four children and to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was masterful at baking, crocheting and knitting, and always spent time creating thoughtful handmade gifts for the new arrivals and for her children at the holidays.
She was a member of the Levittown Community Church, the First Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne, Seacrest Presbyterian Church in Del Ray, the Beta Sigma Phi Society in Cheyenne, and was a former Prairie Promenader, a local square dancing club who toured to different cities to dance.

She is survived by her children, Alex (Susan) Blane, Jr. of North Andover, MA, Eileen Dunn of Fort Collins, CO, Brian (Kathy) Blane of Parker, CO and Bill (Linda) Blane of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and three brothers. She will be dearly missed but the
family is thankful she is now with the lord and reunited to dance with her husband ‘Alec’.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne. Interment of her urn will be in Mountain View Memorial Park in Cheyenne.
