Obituary for Helen M. Snyder

Helen M. Snyder
Helen M. Snyder, 103, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society in Fort Collins, CO.

She was born November 20, 1913 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Robert and Emma (Duis) Smith. She married Harry L. Snyder in 1949.

She loved fishing, camping, knitting, and crocheting, passing down her knowledge and skills to her family. A proud day for her was when she received her Wyoming Pioneer Fishing License. She was very close to her family and cherished the time she could spend with them. She was an avid bowler and bridge player, making many friends through these activities. She was a member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne, as well as a past Worthy Matron of Mizpah Chapter #36 of the Order of Eastern Star. She was proud to call Cheyenne her home all her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Jody (Edward) Haak of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Lynda (Jim) Holthus of Windsor, CO, Joe Haak of Pine, CO, Doug (Kim) Haak of Cheyenne, and Matt (Leslie) Haak of Augusta, GA; six great-grandchildren; Amber (Amy) Holthus-Pera, Dustin (Kristin) Holthus, Tyler Haak, Maddison Haak, Brienne Smith and Andrew Lee; six great-great grandchildren; niece, Arline Buchholz whom she considered her second daughter; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters; three brothers; and a great-great granddaughter Riley Holthus.

A memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will be on Friday, February 24, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy in Helen’s memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Cheyenne Animal Shelter or Davis Hospice Center.
