Ruth C. Mittan, 99, died Mar. 16, 2017 at Platte County Legacy Home. Ruth was born June 3, 1917 in Wauneta, Wyoming, to Andrew and Karoline Gullicksen.
She married Arthur R. Mittan on Feb.6, 1936. After farming in several locations in southeastern Wyoming, they moved to their farm at Carpenter in 1944, where they raised their three children. She designed and with the help of a friend built their new house in 1949. She enjoyed gardening, crafts of all kinds, church and Bible studies. Ruth was always involved in community, teaching first aid and home health care, a Girl Scout leader, PTA officer, Sunday School superintendent, assistant Post Mistress and much more. She was artistic, her favorites were scenic paintings.
Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Carol (Jimmy) Buzard of Guernsey, Wyo. and Janice Mittan of Cheyenne, Wyo.; nine grandchildren, Dennis Buzard of Scotland, Judy (Earnie) Cuthbertson of Cheyenne, Staci Rushing of Oregon, Traci (Steve) Hix of North Carolina, Arnold (Kerri) Mittan of Washington, John (Barbara) Pac e of Cheyenne, Ronald Pace of Cheyenne, Patrick (Danyelle) Pace ofCheyenne and Christena (Chris) Green of Cheyenne; 26 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Art Mittan; sister, Mary Brantley; brother, Adolph Gulliksen; and son, Jim Mittan.
Viewing will be from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Hillsdale Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Friends may donate to American Heart Association, or charity of their choice.
