John W. Pattno, 87, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.

John was born April 23, 1929, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, a son of the late John W. and Agnes (Davey) Pattno.

John was a graduate of Aberdeen High School in 1947 and later graduated from Marquette University in 1952. He served in in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1957, he graduated from the University of Wyoming School of Law and began his law practice in Cheyenne. His distinguished legal career began as a municipal judge from 1959-62, and also served as Laramie County District Attorney from 1962-70. During this period, he married Patricia Norris on April 11, 1959. They were married for 41 years until her death in 2000.

In 1974, he was elected to the Wyoming State Senate and served for one term. John was involved in a number of organizations including serving as a 4-H leader, the Military Affairs Committee, the Laramie County Memorial Executive Committee for five years, the Advisory Board of the Laramie County Community College for 10 years, the Laramie County Bar Association, the Wyoming State Bar Association, the American Legion, Kiwanis Club, HEELS, and a parishioner of St. Mary’s Cathedral.

John is survived by his three daughters, Tricia Nichols of Weatherford, TX, Suzanne (Jeff) Holmes of Longmont, CO, and Kathleen (Randall) Haydon of Weatherford, TX; and two granddaughters, Kendall Holmes and Kristen Holmes, both of Longmont, CO.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Patricia; two sisters, Suzanne Pattno and Margaret Hofacre; and a son-in-law, Galyn Nichols.

A Vigil for the Deceased will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, October 28th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Carl Beavers as celebrant. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
